Yes! You have read it right HOST CONTROLLER ;)
There is the possibility to add it over a very expensive cf card like the RATOC CF USB Hostadapter
There is also the possibility to add USB Host over a cheap Chip like ISP1161 (type reichelt.de and search for ISP 1160 BD - they have a stupid session management so directlinking is not possible).
At the moment I do a mod with this chip so just wait a while or try it at your self. You also can contact me @ contribute | opensimpad | org so we could share the work.
Digi has reported that he was able to mod a WP50. Unfortunately, he won't describe how because he thinks that it was an expensive experience for him. But I will write and try to persuade him.
I would be very happy if someone could make a detailed picture of his WP50/CL4, so I can check the differences and try to get the parts!

It could be possible to add WLAN directly to the serial Interface
I have seen this WLAN to Serial Module - may ther are ceaper.
If i got it right, the MQ200 Chip is able to serve LCD and CRT at the same time. Just take a look at the MQ200 documentation. Would be cool to add a VGA connector ;).
