Getting the Chips

RAM

I found Memphis AG which offers 512Mbit (64MB) RAM Chips for about 18 Euro each. So you will get 128MB RAM.

Here is the datasheet:

MT48LC32M16A2TG-75

Flash Memory

But why only increase the RAM up to 128MB? One 32MB SD-Ram Chip costs less than 5 Euro. So you could mod a SL4 to 64MB for less than 10 Euro. Getting the 128Mbit (16MB) Flash Chips to upgrade a CL4 class SIMpad is also possible.

Bigger (256Mbit - 32MB) chips are also available but very hard to get. The 16MB chip costs about 9 Euro (Memphis AG).

The Flash chip is easier to add because there is no need to remove a chip first you "only" need to solder the chip in SMD ;).

Getting build in service

Wolfsoft offers this service for about 190 Euro inkl. chips.

But Memphis AG the chip distributer knows also cheaper service companies.

To do

  • Buying some chips and do the mod?
  • Do detailed discription about how to get rid of the old chips without killing the SIMpad
